Use Backup to restore Files and Folders on your Computer

To have backup for restoration of files should be mandatory to avoid from any disaster at the time of corruption or damage. It is user-oriented media. However it varies from computer to computer. Each computer has their own predefined path. Most common is to go to start, point to all programs,click on cursor for Accessories, point to system tools and then click Backup. The Backup starts. Click advanced mode. Move to Restore and Manage Media tab. Files are saved in backup file format(BKF) with .bkf extension. Once you accomplish this use one of the following steps:

To restore from a backup file, File needs to be expended, and then expand the backup file For example, expand Backup.bkf created 08/05/2010 at 5:00 PM . Backup includes the date and time of the backup as part of the file name by default.

If you want to restore from a tape backup, expand the tape device that you want (for example, Travan), and then expand the media name that you want. For example, expand Media created 09/07/2009 9:15 PM .

Select the check boxes for the folders that you want to restore. If you want to be more specific in your selections, double-click the folder that you want, and then select the check boxes for the files or folders that you want to restore.

If you are restoring the entire operating system, select the System State check box.
In Restore files box, use one of following steps:
  • Click Original location if restore files location from which backed them up. Use this selection when restore entire computer.
  • Click Alternate location if restore a file or files another location on hard disk. Type location in Alternate location box. Use this selection prevent restore operation from overwriting existing files on your computer.
  • Click Single folder if restore a file or files a single folder on hard disk. Type location in Alternate location box. Use this selection separate restored files or from rest of files on hard disk.
  • On Tools menu, click Options.
  • Click method Backup use when it restores a file is already on computer, and then click OK. Backup uses this selection determine whether overwrite an existing file only when it restores a file in a folder contains existing file.
  • Click Start
  • If following message appears, click OK if restore System State information with selected backup:
  • In Confirm Restore prompt appears, click OK. A Restore Progress dialog box appears, and restore operation starts.
  • When restore process is complete, click Close.
  • If are prompted restart computer, click Yes.
