Fixing “Unrecognized Media...” Error Message

One of the safest way to access your data post any logical or physical corruption scenario is by using an up-to-date backup file. Understanding this requirement, Microsoft has incorporated NT Backup utility in Windows NT and above operating systems to create a valid backup. The backup file created using this utility can be saved on the computer or the network. Unlike any other file, this file can also be corrupted due to various logical corruption reasons. A corrupted BKF file displays an error message when the user attempts to open it. This error message makes the data saved in the BKF file inaccessible. In such cases, if the user wishes to access the BKF file data, s/he needs to use another backup. But if in case, no other backup is accessible, then the user needs to repair the corrupted BKF file by using an advanced repair bkf file application.

Consider a practical scenario, where you attempt to access a BKF file in order to store lost data or make modifications in the BKF file. However, when you double-click on the BKF file, you view the below error message:

“[Unrecognized Media]
The backup file is unusable. You must erase it, or choose another file. ”

After the above error message appears, the stored data in the BKF file becomes inaccessible. In addition, the same error message pops up every time you attempt to access the file.

Cause:
The above error message mainly occurs when the format of the file has been changed somehow. This format change occurs when the Windows operating system performs a check while you were trying to open the file.

Resolution:
To isolate the above error message and read the data saved in the BKF file, you need to use an effective BKF recovery application. An efficient MS Backup Recovery software ensures complete repair of a corrupted BKF file, regardless of the degree of it corruption. This repair utility can be easily used by any user (even by those with non-technical background) as it is easy to understand and implement.
